Home Security advice
We all want to feel safe in our homes. This is where we raise our children and this is where we should feel the safest. Sometime no matter how hard we try someone takes a little piece of our life by entering our home without permission. If you follow our tips hopefully you can feel better knowing you did the best you could at securing your home. Actually home security starts with a good insurance policy. If the unthinkable ever happened you would be alot happier knowing your valuables were completely covered by Home Insurance.
We don’t need to make our homes into fortresses, but taking a few simple measures to protect your home will help to make it a no-go zone for thieves. And finally, why not help your neighbours and sign up to a local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme or talk to a local crime prevention officer about setting up your own.
Home Security Tips
If you were locked out of your house, would you still be able to get in? Maybe you keep an unlocked window at the back, or a hidden key in your postbox or on top of a window ledge?
You may think this is a good idea, but if you can break in, so can a burglar!
Statistics from 2002 showed that ‘a House is broken into every 37 Seconds’. And that One out of ten homes will be broken into this year. For a small amount of time and money you can make your home more secure and reduce your chances of being a victim.
Many burglars will spend no longer than 60 seconds trying to break into a home. Good locks and good neighbours who watch out for each other can be big deterrents to burglars.
Did you know that in almost half of all completed residential burglaries, thieves simply breezed in through unlocked doors or crawled through unlocked windows? Always double check your locks!
